• How can Social control be used

  can be used to control society e.g sherif reducing prejudice in society is positive however could be used to cause prejudice within society.
• Social control

  Study may have only used one gender or people within one group in society lowering generalisability . E.g Cambridge students meaning can’t be used to control other groups so less representative.

• Social control, could be:

  • The regulation of behaviour as a method of enforcing compliance and conformity to societal expectations.

  Using systems to restrict behaviour of individuals or groups in society.

  • Individuals, groups or subgroups in the population being manipulated in society to follow social norms.
  • Conscious decisions by those in power to elicit behaviours they want to see from others.
  • Those with legitimate power using their knowledge to enforce decisions on individuals e.g. suitable treatment
• For social control evaluation state a reason for positibe social control. A reason for negative social control. And then a reason why it may not be able to be used as social control e.g may not be able to be used in females.
