Culture and gender

• Individualist cultures are where they embrace individuality as people can do what they want to meaning they are more prejudice to each other. While in collectivist cultures they all follow the state and that whole culture looks after each other showing less prejudice to each other but more to people outside of their culture.
• Alpha bias emphasises the stereotypical differences or characteristics between men and women. Beta bias is the opposite, often minimising differences between the sexes.
• Androcentric bias - samples that are focused on males being superior so only males need to be tested. Gynocentric bias -samples that are focused on females being superior so only females need to be tested.
• Emic: refers to research that only studies one culture and not any other. Etic: refers to research that studies cross-cultural differences in behaviour
