  • NSAIDS work best as opposed to Paracetamol
  • NSAIDS- Ibuprofen,Naproxen, Hyoscine hydrobromide
  • Alverine relaxes uterine muscles
  • The COC pill may help with symptoms
  • Hot water bottle
  • TENS machine
  • Light-Medium exercise
  • Can occur to any women of menstrual age, usually a year after first period
  • Refer if heavy or unexplained bleeding
  • Refer pain days before menses
  • Refer if other systemic symptoms or bleeding in post menopausal women
  • Consider endometriosis in 30+, pain that starts a week before period
  • Cancer symptoms in 50+, loss of appetite or bladder issues
  • NSAIDS can be used in breastfeeding but avoid hyoscine
  • Naproxen for 15-50 year olds, no more than 3 a day
  • Hyoscine 2 tabs four times a day for length of period to rid nausea
