13 - God

• God The Creator

  • In Genesis it says 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth... Then God said "Let there be light" and there was light'
  • God is the creator of the universe. He is the cause of everything that exists
  • The world is here for a purpose. It is not accidental but a result of God's plan
  • God created the world out of nothing exactly as God wants it. It is a good world
  • Humans are God's most important creation as they were created last
• God The Sustainer

  • Sustainer means God is in control now. He is right now providing for the world
  • God constantly keeps the world in existence. If God stopped existing, the universe would stop existing
  • Sustainer means he is like a good parent, always there to support his children
  • The Lords Prayer shows God as a sustainer. Christians are taught to ask God for help ('Give us this day our daily bread')
• Spirit

  God has no physical body, no gender and is outside space and time
• Omnipotence

  • Means 'all powerful'. God has the power to do anything possible
  • God has complete power over everything he has created
• Omniscience

  • Means 'all knowing'. God sees and knows everything
  • God knows everything it is possible to know as he created everything. He knows every thought and action - even the future
• Omnibenevolence

  • Means 'all good'. God is all-loving and completely good
  • God made a good world, cares for all and shows his love by forgiving sins
• Omnipresence

  • Omnipresence means God is everywhere in space and time
  • God is in all things at all times. He is not limited and is always present
• Trinity

  • Trinity means the one God is made up of 3 persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
  • Father - Gid the creator who made the world and cares for his people
  • Son - Jesus who is God in the form of a human who came to earth to save people
  • Holy Spirit - God without physical form who is present in the world now
  • Symbol of Water - It is one thing but in 3 different forms (Liquid, solid, gas)
