  • 'I'll give you Mr Scrooge, founder of the feast!' 'Founder' connotes to creator, alluding to how he sees Scrooge in a god-like way. This is because he feels all his 'luxuries' in life wouldn't have come without him. Highlights how the poor are blindly grateful for what the upper class give them, eventhough they are the ones that exploit them, Dixkens exposes that it is the rich who propagate poverty by preserving their own wealth.
  • 'My little, little child!' Pathos is evoked for bob. The repeated adjective 'little' connotes a sense of innocence, reinforcing that innocent children are mere victims to the belligerent cycle of poverty.
