Chapter 1

• A group of women, including our narrator are inside a gymnasium.
• It appears they are unwillingly being held there, ‘protected’ by different guards (the aunts and Angles).
• The women ‘yearned for the future’ however the narrator seems to be stuck thinking about the history of the gymnasium.
