Nature vs Nurture

• Neurological are nature/ nurture,

  most are multi factorial, we determine this by looking at these arguments
• newborns

  • haven't been affected by environment
  • disorders identified would then be nature
• case studies

  Investigate brain damage + following changes

  • Kid's brains are still developing
  • So after brain damage
  • If ability returns -> nature
  • If ability doesnt return -> nurture
  • Adult's brains are fully developed already,
  • so changes would be from nature
• cross cultural studies

  Look at kids of same age across diff cultures

  to see effect of nurture
• twin studies

  • identical twins have same genetic makeup
  • So if they're diff -> nurture
  • They're seperated from birth to see influence of nature

  BTW

  • In womb,
  • exposed to many stimuli
  • so influence of nurture
