  • width of river
    1. use a measuring tape
    2. have one person on one side of the river, another opposite
    3. put 0cm on the river bank
    4. measure the width
  • depth of the river
    1. still hold the measuring tape from width of the river
    2. from left to right, every 25cm measure the depth of the river
    3. do this by putting the ruler into the water and see how far up the water reaches
  • velocity of river
    1. measure 10m in the river using a measuring tape
    2. person upstream drop a dog biscuit in the river - start the stop watch
    3. when the dog biscuit reaches the person downstream stop the stop watch
  • measuring the width and length of stones
    1. pick up a stone
    2. using a measuring tape measure the width and length
    3. repeat 10 times
  • bed load roundness - power index
    1. pick up a stone
    2. compare roundness to photos
    3. repeat 10 times
