• infrared radiation can be used to increase o monitor temperature
• fibre optic cables use visible light to transmit data
• optical fibres are thin glass or plastic fibres so by reflection the light rays are bounced back and forth until they reach the end
• x rays are used for taking photographs and treating people with cancer
• x rays can easily pass through flesh but not through denser materials like bones
• x ray can kill cancer rays by giving them a high dose to kill the cells
