Investigating changes in pH

Cards (6)

  • Investigating changes in pH on adding powdered calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide to a fixed volume of dilute hydrochloric acid
  • Equipment
    • Dilute hydrochloric acid
    • Solid calcium hydroxide
    • Weighing boat
    • Measuring cylinder
    • Large beaker
    • Glass rod to stir reactant
    • White tile
  • 1.measure 50 cm(3) of dilute hydrocochloric acid in measuring cylinder
    2.Pour this into large beaker
  • 3.Tear UI paper place onto 10 tiles
4.Use glass rod to get drop of acid then place on one UI paper. Then use colour and identify pH
  • 5.weigh 0.3g of of calcium hydroxide on weighing balance
6.Then add this to beaker with acid and record pH
  • 7.continue to add 0.3g of calcium hydroxide
8.Record results and put on graph
