  • flour is made by milling wheat grains
  • wheat grains are harvested and then cleaned to remove any stones or dust
  • the grains are stored in dry conditions to prevent moulds from growing on them
  • the grains are put into a hopper and are crushed between rollers that crack open the grain
  • different types of flour can be made by sieving and removing parts of the grain (wholemeal flour uses all of the grain and white flour uses only 70% of the grain)
