P5 specification

Cards (4)

  • Identify and describe scalar quantities
    • scalar has a size but no direction
    • eg: speed, distance, mass temperature, time
  • Identify and describe vector quantities
    • vectors have a magnitude & direction
    • eg: force, acceleration, velocity
    • vectors can be represented by arrows
  • Identify and give examples of forces as contact or non-contact forces
    • contact forces have to be touching
    • eg: friction, air resistance, normal contact force
    • non-contact forces do not need to be touching
    • eg: magnetic, electrostatic, gravitational
  • Describe the interaction between two objects and the force produced on each as a vector
    • when 2 objects interact, there is a force produced on both objects
    • an INTERACTION is a pair of forces that are equal & opposite
