• For closer geophones, the shorter, direct path takes less time. For geophones further away, the longer refracted is quicker. 
• The moho is the boundary between 25-60km deep beneath continents and 5-8km deep beneath ocean floor. 
• The mantle is more rigid and more incompressible so waves speed up.
