• Allah as fair

  • for Allah took Ibrahim as a close friend (Quran)
  • Ibrahim was forbearing, tenderhearted and returned to Allah (Quran)
• prophethood

  • Allah chooses messengers from angels and from men (Quran)
  • all the prophets are brothers ; their mothers are different but their religion is one (Hadith)
• earlier holy book

  • We have revealed it to Noah and the prophets who came after it (Quran)
  • We sent inspiration to Ibrahim, Ismail, Issac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Haroon and Sulaiman and to Dawood We gave the Torah (Quran)
• angels

  • whoever is an enemy to Allah and his angels ... then indeed Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers (Quran)

  • Allah, be a supporter of whoever supports Ali and an enemy to whoever opposes him (Prophets narration)
  • I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate (Prophets narration)
• Mubahala

  • a spiritual contest described in the Quran against the christians
  • Prophet took Ali, Hasan, Husayn (first three Imams)
  • shows their knowledge
• imamate

  I am leaving among you 2 precious things and if you adhere to both of them you will never go astray after me. they are

  • the book of Allah
  • and my progeny (descendants), that is my Ahul Bayt (family of the Prophet)
• sects

  • be not among those who ... split up their religion and become sects (Quran)
  • those who divided their religion and became sects, you (O Muhammad) are not with them in anything (Quran)
• shahada

  • there is no God but Allah
  • Muhammad is the messenger of Allah
  • and Ali is the friend of Allah (Shia version)
• salah

  • salah is the first thing that Allah will ask them about on the day of judgement (Hadith)
  • whenever the Prophet would face any difficulty He would then turn towards Salah (Hadith)
• jummah

  • the best day the sun rises over is friday ; on it Allah created Adam (Hadith)
  • on the day of Jummah then proceed to the remembrance of Allah (Quran)
• zakah

  • the believers shade on the day of judgement will be his charity (Hadith)
  • give zakat and whatever good you put forward for yourselves - you will find it with Allah (Quran)
• sawm

  • whoever fasts during ramadan with faith and seeking his rewad will have his past sins forgiven (Hadith)
  • fasting is enjoined upon you as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you become God fearing (Quran)
• laylat al quadr

  • it was in the month of ramadan that the Quran was revealed (Quran)
  • the night of Glory is better than worshipping for 1000 months (Quran)
• Hajj

  • Allah has prescribe Hajj upon you so perform it (Prophet)
  • the reward of accepted Hajj is nothing but Paradise (Hadith)
• muharram

  • if I remain alive till next year I shall also observe fast on the 9th of Muharram (Hadith)
  • Bring out your people from darkness into the light and remind them of the days of Allah (Quran - said to Musa)
• ashura

  • every day is ashura and every land is karbala (shia saying)
  • the sacrifice of imam hussein symbolizes the eternal fight against oppression (shia expression)
• free will

  • do not be a slave to others when Allah created you free (Hadith)
  • Allah misleads whom He will and whom He wills He guides (Quran)
• predestination

  Allah knows what we will do but we still have freedom to choose

  • nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us (Quran)
  • you dont will except what Allah wills (Quran)
  • all things have been created in accordance with Allahs preordainment (Hadith)
• predeterminism

  Allah already sets everything + we are just doing it

  • the pens have been lifted and the pages have dried (Hadith)
  • Allah has written the destinies of all creatures 50,000 years before the creation of the heavens and the earth (Hadith)
• barzakh

  • behind them is barzakh until the day of judgement (Quran)
  • the grave is the first stage of the hereafter (Hadith)
• qiyyamah

  • the record will be placed and you will see the criminals are fearful of that (Quran)
  • those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be successful (Quran)
  • the prophets will pass over it (the bridge of siraat) in the blink of an eye (Hadith)
  • my intercession is for the people of major sins among my ummah (Hadith)
• jannah

  • indeed for the righteous with their Lord are the gardens of pleasure (Quran)
  • you will not enter paradise until you have faith and you will not have faith until you love one another (Prophet)
• jahannam

  • fear the fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers (Quran)
  • their wish will be to get out of the fire but they will never get out. their penalty will be one that endures (Quran)
• greater jihad

  • the most excellent jihad is that for the conquest of self (Hadith)
  • the mujahid (one who struggles in Allahs cause) s the one who strives against his soul (Hadith)
• lesser jihad

  • fighting is prescribed for you and you dislike it ... but Allah knows and you do not (Quran)
  • and fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you (Quran)
  • those who ,when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves (Quran)
