  • hybridisation occurs (base pairing) between complementary bases of the different species
  • More of it = more stable hybrid DNA
  • Measure stability by mp (when it seperates again)
  • higher mp = greater degree of base pairing
  • SOOO
  • DNA sequence are more similar
  • Species with more stable hybrid DNA = more closely related genetically
