  • what are the 6Cs?
    The 6Cs are: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment.
  • compassion - being kind to others
  • care - showing concern for others
  • competence - having knowledge and skills needed to do your job well
  • communication - listening carefully to what people say and explaining things clearly
  • courage - showing bravery when dealing with difficult situations or people
  • communication - sharing information with others clearly and effectively
  • commitment - working hard at all times
  • it is compulsory all health and care employees receive the appropriate training when working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • the health and care act requires all employees to attend courses on changes on legal requirements, new treatments and procedures.
  • the francis requiry report was published on 6th february 2013 and examined the causes of the failings in care at mid staffordshire NHS foundation trust between 2005-2009.
  • the francis inquiry report made 290 recommendations for the hospital, examples include
    • openness, transparecy and candour throughout the health care system, fundamental standards for healthcare providers.
    • imporved support for compassionate caring and committed care and stronger healthcare leadership.
  • failing to meet national standards might result to life tradegies.
  • every child matters (ECM):
    • launched in 2003
    • ensure all children, regarldess of their background, should have a chance to reach to their full potential by reducing levels of ill health, eradicating abuse and neglect and improving educational success for all children.
    • the 5 aims for children are; 1. stay safe 2. be healthy 3. enjoy and acheive 4. make a positive contribution 5. acheive economic wellbeing
  • the children act (2004):
    • appointement of a director of childrens services in every local authority that has responsibility for the care and education of children in their area
    • duty to cooperate for all services concerned with the are and safeguarding of children
    • setting up of local safeguarding boards who are responsible for monitoring the professional practice of agencies in the safeguarding of children in their area
    • creation of a childrens commissioner, with responsibility for representing and promoting the interest of children and young people- mostly disadvantged children
