    • Newspapers can be either tabloids or broadsheets
    • Broadsheets
      More formal, serious and mature topics discussed, usually black and white, text-led, hard news
    • Tabloids
      More informal, humorous and colourful, soft news topics discussed, such as celebrities and pop culture, image-led

      intended to inform and entertain readers and refers to stories usually of human interest, such as; celebrity gossip, fashion, technology and other humorous stories - informal tone of presentation

      usually serious and urgent news and events reported directly after they've taken place such as; politics, economics, war and crime - factual and formal tone of presentation

      small advertisement usually in a circle or box its own, referring to something within the newspaper
    • Plug
      small advertisement usually in a circle or box of its own, referring to something external to the newspaper
    • Logo
      signature picture associated with the brand
    • Skyline
      large banner at the top of the front cover, full of advertisements
    • Copy
      articles on the page
    • Headline
      largest text on the page reporting on a main story
    • Sub-heading
      smaller text, longer sentence in more detail about the headline
    • By-line
      line before the copy naming the writer
    • Caption
      text next to an image explaining it or giving some context
    • Main image 

      largest image on the cover, relates to the heading
    • Serif font 

      formal, old-fashioned text
    • Sans-serif font 

      modern, less formal text
