GBH s18

• s18 Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent is an indictable offence.
• s18 GBH: "Whoever shall unlawfully and maliciously wound or cause any grievous bodily harm to any person with intent do some grievous bodily harm to any person, or with intent to resist or prevent the unlawful apprehension or detainer of any person shall be liable"
• The actus reus for s18 is the exact same as s20 but it also covers resisting arrest.
• Only intent will suffice for the mens rea.
• It is not enough to intend some harm, it must be "serious" harm.

• There must be a real application of the mens rea to see intent. For example, use of a weapon or multiple attacks.
• Direct or oblique intention will suffice for "intent".
