Conditions of worth

• Conditions of Worth = Requirements that an individual believes they need to achieve to earn positive regard from others
• Rogers' believed that people can often stop others from reaching self-actualisation
• This is because people experience "conditions of worth", where they are only accepted by others if they do what others' want or desire
• • A person may experience a sense of self-acceptance and self-worth only when they meet these conditions of worth
• These conditions can be real (directly told) or perceived (thought or implied)
