      A type of question that can be answered with a yes or a no.

      Use the objective case of an interrogative pronoun when asking questions about the object.
      E.g., They met the woman -> Whom did they meet?
    • Interrogative how
      Often combined with other words to form new interrogatives

      e.g., little, long, old, etc.
    • Yes-no questions
      Questions about an entire sentence and are not seeking specific information about a part of the sentence.

      An interrogative word is used for questions about a specific part of a sentence.

      E.g., what, where, when, etc.
    • Placing prepositions in an interrogative phrase

      Questions about the information in a prepositional phrase must include the preposition in the question.
    • Where
      An interrogative that can usually replace a prepositional phrase indicating a location or a destination.

      E.g., They hid in the barn --> Where did they hide?
    • In interrogative sentences, it is the tense of the auxillary that determines the time of action.
    • Verbs that are not auxilaries form present and past tense questions by the use of do/did.
    • What are Interrogative words?
      Identifies the part of the sentence about which is inquired.
