    • this is where information from the environment is taken in through the senses. It involves selective attention and focuses on relevant information

    • the brain processes the input and selects the appropriate response from memory.

    • this stage involves sending information from the brain to the muscles to carry out the chosen response
    • it translates the decision made in the previous stage into a physical action
  • feedback stage
    • can be received intrinsically or extrinsically
    • provides information about the effectiveness of the response
