Hot Desert Characteristics

• Deserts have high temperatures, low precipitation, and low vegetation
• Plants have a thick waxy skin on their surface to reduce water loss by transpiration
• Plants have adapted to have tap roots to reach deep underground water supplies
• Camels have adapted to have long eyelashes to prevent sediment from getting in their eyes
• The fennec fox has adapted to have thick fur on their feet protecting them from the hot ground
