Charles Booth believed that politicians were wrong about the extent of poverty in Britain. He carried out research into poverty in London from 1886 to 1903, and published a report titled ‘Inquiry into the Life and Labour of the People in London’.
BOOTH SURVEY:
His investigation of living conditions in London showed that 30% of people were living in poverty.
BOOTH SURVEY:
Booth’s work showed that poor people and rich people often lived close to one another. He identified problems of overcrowding, poor sanitation and the spread of disease.
BOOTH ANALYSIS (FOR):
These reports indeed proved that the government was the sole force that could change and improve for the better, enacting a feeling of guilt and forcefulness in parliament.
