Newton's First Law states an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.
Newton's Second Law states the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the resultant force acting on it, and inversely proportional to its mass.
Resultant Force = Mass X Acceleration
ResultantForce - the overall force that acts on an object.
If the resultant force on an object is zero it will either remain stationary or keep moving at the samevelocity.
If the resultant force acting on an object isn't zero, it will change velocity (speed or direction).
