Resultant Forces

Cards (6)

  • Newton's First Law states an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.
  • Newton's Second Law states the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the resultant force acting on it, and inversely proportional to its mass.
  • Resultant Force = Mass X Acceleration
  • Resultant Force - the overall force that acts on an object.
  • If the resultant force on an object is zero it will either remain stationary or keep moving at the same velocity.
  • If the resultant force acting on an object isn't zero, it will change velocity (speed or direction).
