  • Babington plot - Babington and co planned to kill Elizabeth then support Mary's claim as the rightful Catholic queen but secret letters between Babington and mary were intercepted, providing evidence of her involvement and gave Elizabeth the grounds to execute mary in 1587 for treason

  • Throckmorton plot 1583 - French and Spanish troops would invade england, English catholics would rise up in rebellion and mary queen of Scots would be freed from captivity and made queen - Elizabeth would ne over thrown and possibly killed
