  -Female characters --> peripheral presented in a stereotypical way

  -Both members limited to strict gender roles

  -Binary opposition active male/passive female --> 3 male leads active, female characters passive

  Economic system based on private ownership of production and profit off it

  Self interest > public duty

  Crimogenic --> capitalise system encourages criminal behaviour (Moss taking money)
• What's Neo-conservatism?

  Advocation of individualism, commerce and peace through strength
• Coen brothers on Neo-conservatism:

  Coen brothers against it as it empowered large corporations at expense of individual, increased social inequality and led to culture where one must take what they can to survive 
• NCFOM and Neo-conservatism:

  Shows consequences of greed, materialism and individualism with its’ complex, un-idealised version of contemporary America

• Nihilism:

  Pessimistic world view, values have no meaning --> no loyalties, purpose, impulse to destroy, believe in nothing (Chigurh and coin toss scenes)
• Fatalism:

  All events are pre-determined and inevitable, have no power over the future --> acceptance instead of resistance (Chigurh “[the coin’s] been travelling 25 years to get here”, Bell at the end)
