God

• The nature of God:

  • God has three aspects (trinity) the father, the son and the holy spirit. Symbolized by water, ice and steam.
  • God is the creator of the world
  • Jesus is the incarnation of god (god in human form)
  • Omniscient (all knowing)
  • Omnipotent (all powerful)
  • Omnibenevolent (all loving)
• The nature of humanity:

  • In Genesis it says that humans were made in the image of god.
  • Humans have souls; animals don't
  • Some think we're born with original sin (because Adam and Eve disobeyed god) and not worthy of heaven without Jesus as our savior.
  • Humans continue to live in an afterlife
  • We have freewill and therefore are responsible for our actions
• The trinity:

  • Christians believe in on god
  • Father - the creator and sustainer
  • Son - Jesus, god became human
  • Holy spirit - Present in the world
• The holy spirit:

  • The holy spirit is part of the trinity
  • The holy spirit is one aspect of god
  • It is god at work in the world
  • It inspired the authors of the bible
  • Spirit came in Jesus place
