• New lifestyles (hippie communities), clothing (bell-bottom pants, vivid colors), hairstyles acquired a political nature
• Spread of drug use, especially LSD (outlawed in 1966)
• In 1966, Mohammed Ali refused to be drafted due to his religious and ethical beliefs
• 1967’s “Summer of Love” in San Francisco : hundreds of thousands of people living the hippie experience
• 1969 Woodstock festival : “peace and love” movement
