Cells

• Eukaryotes are complex animal and plant cells
• • Prokaryotes cells are smaller and simpler- bacteria, single celled
• Animal cells:

  1. nucleus- genetic material and controlled activity
  2. cytoplasm- chemical reactions happen
  3. cell membrane- what goes in and out, holds together
  4. mitochondria- where respiration happens
  5. ribosomes- protein synthesis
• Plant cell:

  all of the things animal cells have and

  1. rigid cell wall- made of cellulose, supports and strengthens
  2. vacuole-cell sap, weak solution of sugar and salt
  3. chloroplasts- photosynthesis occurs contain chlorophyll which absorbs sunlight
• Bacteria:

  much smaller

  1. cell membrane
  2. cytoplasm
  3. cell wall
  4. plasmid- small ring of DNA
  5. singular strand of DNA instead of nucleus

  DONT have chloroplasts or mitochondria
