Lorenz research:
studied
imprinting
on
geese
took some eggs from a goose and kept them
incubated
so the first thing they saw was lorenz
kept the other eggs with the
mother
Lorenz's findings:
The incubator group
followed
lorenz everywhere and the
control
group followed their mother everywhere
this is
imprinting
and there is a critical
period
where this takes place
Lorenz also investigated the relationship between
imprinting
and
mate
preference.
He observed a
peacock
try and mate with a
tortoise
as it was raised in a reptile household.
Harlows monkeys:
They were kept in cages, the monkey made out of
wire
had the bottle attached to it, and there was another monkey with
cloth
the monkeys preferred the
cloth
monkey showing that
feeding
is not important when forming
