  • rely on light
  • resolution is limited to 0.2 μm (200nm) (anything less that that will appear blurry)
• Electron microscope (pros):

  • use electrons
  • maximum resolution is 0.1 nm
  • can be used to study subcellular structures
• Electron microscope (cons):

  • very expensive
  • hard to use
  • mostly used by scientists only
  • only dead specimen
  • black and white only
