adaptive (acquired) immunity

• • There are 2 types of lymphocytes (specialised WBCs):  T lymphocytes (T cells)  B lymphocytes (B cells)
• • The adaptive immune response provides specific protection against pathogens and is initiated some time after exposure providing a more targeted and effective response. It does provide immunological immunity and responds stronger and faster to the same pathogen a second time.
