    Cambridge is home to to one of the top universities in the world for over 800 years . However Cambridge wasn't always and economic hub as they didn't have economic activity just education. In the 21st Century Cambridge has developed a Hi-Tech industry and over 1500 bio - tech and IT companies. Abcam is an example of this as it was founded by Cambridge graduates and is worth 1 billion and employs 200 staff with PHD degrees.

    There are good transport links like Stanstead Airport and M11 to London. The city offers a good quality of life with much open space and high quality shops. There are few traditional industries to compete for land so the rent is lower.

    The city is overcrowded and congested- the easiest way to get around is by bicycle. House prices are high and still rising making it an expensive place to live. Roads and rails need to be improve to speed up connections with other cities.

    Merthyr Tydfil had ironworks which was one of the largest industries in the 19th century. Coal - mining employed thousands in the 20th Century. After coal - mining declined in the 20th Century a hoover company employed 5000 people. The factory closed in 2009 putting the last 400 employees out of work. Post - industrial the tertiary job sector of telecommunications company EE, a call centre opened up in 2013.

    In the 20th Century the media grew popular as people began making shows and movies which gives a positive reputation on the UK encouraging more tourists. In 2012 Skyfall became the most popular show in the UK box office. The Great British Bake Off is were amateur bakers compete for a title. This show has now been licensed in over 20 countries so that means more profit is being generated to the UK economy.

Peppa Pig is a children's cartoon shown in over 170 countries. Peppa Pig's has encouraged more merchandise being bought all over the world which also generates profit to the UK economy.

    Britain has changed their eating habits as the average income increased. British people also lead busier lives so there is less time to cook. Chinese takeaway is the most popular takeaway as 25% of people regularly eat it. This started as in the 19th century East Asians migrated to Britain and settled in by opening shops to sell their ethnic foods. Indian food was also extremely popular with Chicken Tikka Masala being the most popular takeaway dish which replaced fish and chips.
