Russification in Poland

• After the Polish Revolt of 1863-64, Russification took place in Poland.
• In 1864, the property of the Polish Roman Catholic Church was seized and the new Warsaw University was closed in 1869.
• Russian replaced Polish as the language of government and hundreds of Russian officials were drafted to replace Poles in the civil service.
