• how to check the pH of water?

  place a small drop onto universal indicator paper
• how to check if water has any dissolved solids?

  1. use a balance to weigh an empty evaporating basin
  2. fill evaporating basin w water sample & place on a tripod & gauze
  3. use a bunsen burner to gently heat the water until it has evaporated
  4. allow evaporating basin to cool & weigh it again
