There is no action potential in repsonse to acid stimulus since no sodium ion voltage gated channels open. This means that only few sodium ions move in causing less depolarisation, not enough for an action potential
Why transmission of action potentials along the axon slower in the absence of saltatory conduction
No nodes of Ranvier so the whole axon needs to be depolarised
