Memory and system performance

Cards (7)

  • RAM
    high speed
    Volatile  Memory
This is where data and files are stored when they are being used
  • ROM
    Non Volatile Memory
Tells the Cpu how to boost up
  • Virtual memory
When the RAM is full it moses data not recently used into the virtual memory
If is probably needed when there too many application opened
  • The Cpu performance depends on the 3 things
    Clock speed
    Number of cores
    Cashe size
  • Clock speed
Is the number of instructions that a single processing core can carry out per second
High clock speed greater number of the instructions that can be carried out
  • Number of cores
More cores more instruction that can be process a batch of data
  • Cache size
Bigger cache size allows the Cpu faster access to more data that it needs to process
