Morphology and Physiology

• Viruses - are composed of nucleic acid, protein, and lipids.
• Nucleic acid - can be either DNA or RNA, encodes genetic information that is necessary to make copies of the virus.
• deoxyvirus - a bacterial and animal viruses have DNA.
• ribovirus - a plant viruses that have RNA
• Capsid - a protective protein coat that surrounds the nucleic acid which is made up of repeating proteinaceous structural units called capsomeres.
