PMQs is when the PM answers questions from MPs every Wednesday at 12pm for 30 mins the PM will not know what questions are being asked
advantages
can give positive publicity to the oppositions
allows opposition to ask the PM hard questions and scrutinise the PM and display their weaknesses
keeps PM on their toes
on rare occasion MPs from party in gov can criticise the PM for eg David Davis used the quote 'in the name of god go' at the height of partygate in 2022
disadvantages
often described as parliamentary theatre for being loud and lots of shouting
PM is often asked soft question by his MPs showing ineffective scrutiny
most questions are to catch out the opposition or praise their own party rather than challenge the gov
the PM will be extensively briefed on likely subject of discussion he could be asked by government departments
PQs is where an MP asks a minister a specific question about policy, legislation or any other matter that falls within the remit of the department they represent.
