• Diffusion is the spreading out of particles resulting in a net movement from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration
• Osmosis is diffusion through a partially permeable membrane, which allows water but not solute to pass through.
• The higher the temperature, the greater the rate of diffusion
• The larger the surface area, the faster the rate of diffusion
