  • Society & thus schools are a meritocracy (position is determined based on an individual’s effort and ability over all else).
  • Schools create social cohesion (the idea that people must rely on each other and work as a team to overcome difficulties through collective learning and witnessing the struggles of others).
  • Schools have a hidden curriculum they teach norms and values through their lessons, but are not formally recognised as curriculum. This is a positive thing.
