    • Particularistic values are imposed on children by families, and wildly differ. For example, expected grades.
  • Universalistic values are set values that don’t change depending on the child. All are held to the same standard. For example, manners.
  • Ascribed status is the idea that parents value their children regardless of whether or not it is deserved- attributed to parental love.
  • Achieved status: the idea that children’s status is decided based on their hard work and ability, reflecting society.
