Crash Hazards

Cards (4)

  • Large decelerations can cause serious injury as the passenger experiences a large force.
  • To reduce the force during collisions the time needs to increase as
Force = Change in Momentum / Time
  • To increase the time in collisions, seatbelts stretch slightly, airbags gradually slow you and crumple zones collapse inwards.
  • Speed limits limit the momentum cars can travel at so reduce forces if a collision were to occur.
