Extended metaphor of light = associates her with positivity. Light contrast his blindness at the start and her light is a guide to his history.

    angry about the teaching = metaphor suggests his careful creation and sculpting of identity, it also suggests he is learning his history and its not straightforward. Unlike British history which uses simple rhymes to show their silliness.
