Similarities/differences Bentham's ethics/Kant's ethics

  Both ethics function on a secular society - Kant because humans having moral responsibility and Bentham because he focuses on hedonism rather than religion
• Similarities

  Both ethics support the aims for democracy - Kant because of the universability of the Kingdom of Ends and Bentham becase he focuses on greatest good for the greatest number
• Similarities

  Both have similar context, moral philosophers working for the good of society and both theories support good for humans above all else.
• Differences

  Teleological vs deontological - Bentham's is teleological, whilst Kant's is deontological
• Differences

  Kant holds a belief in the existence of God and angels whilst Bentham does not.

  Bentham aims for pleasure whilst Kant aims for reason
• Differences

  In Bentham's ethics there are no moral absolutes, but in Kant's ethics there are some actions always considered wrong.

  Bentham uses the Hedonic Calculus whilst Kant uses the categorical Imperatives
