A
mould
is put into a
box
(

) and then the box is filled with
sand.

mould
is removed and another box (
cope
) is placed on
top.
The
cope
has
channels
in it to pour the
molten metal
into, which fills the
mould cavity.
It is left to
cool
and then
excess metal
is removed.
Why use sand casting?
