Legitimacy of authority

• Most societies are hierarchal, the authority that they use is legitimate, however one consequence is it gives some the power to punish others.
• People tend to obey if they recognise their authority as morally right/legally base.
• Response to legitimacy of authority is learned in the family, school and workplace.
