Extreme UK Weather Events

• In Summer 2003, Europe suffered from an intense heatwave - UK temperature reached 38°C which was the highest to ever be recorded.
• In August 2004, Boscastle in Cornwall suffered a flash flood - 3x the average rainfall for the whole of August fell in one day
• From 2004-2006, UK received below average rainfall - Reservoirs and groundwater supplies not replenished
• In December 2010, UK was under snow due to arctic air - temperatures dropped significantly, with temperatures of -10°C common
• In 2012, there was flooding in England - more than 800 homes were flooded and 2 died, roads and rail disrupted
