  Substances that can speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the reaction
• Transition metals form colorful compounds
• Corrosion

  Metals reacting with oxygen in the air and water, which acts as a catalyst for this
• Ways to prevent corrosion

  • Barrier method (painting, covering in oil)
  • Sacrificial method (covering with more reactive metal)

  1. Write down all the numbers given

  2. Find moles of acid using concentration and volume

  3. Use balanced equation to find moles of base

  4. Use concentration equation to find concentration of base
• Molar volume


  The volume taken up by one mole of gas at room temperature and pressure (24 cm^3)
• Atom economy

  The percentage of the reactants that have been turned into useful products, calculated by useful product mass / total product mass x 100
