2.1 political parties

• party system- political system compromising a number of parties that compete in elections
• for state funding for parties- it would reduce the influence of wealthy individuals and groups, might improve the image of politics by making it less corrupt, it would allow parties to compete on a more equal basis, could help promote smaller parties and reduces the need for politicians to waste time for fund raising
• against fund raising for parties- taxpayer money shouldn't be spent on funding party activities, may increase corruption if taxpayer money is spent incorrectly, parties remain unequal depending on membership size, taxpayer may be accused of funding extremist parties
